Sheathed: All Ablaze is pretty much the go to. Lastly, you also have Deadly Spiral, which I think is better than Dual Hurl. Against guarding enemies, a good combo is 4x Quick Attack -> Strong Attack (for Wolf’s Rage) -> Strong Attack again for combo finisher. It’s possible to guard break lock enemies or revenants if you have enough Break stats. I didn’t mention it in Low Stance, but you also have Wolf’s Rage, a guard break ability. You can Quick Attack -> Strong Attack -> Ki Pulse/Flux -> Quick Attack -> Strong Attack, etc. Mountain Hawk is a faster version that can catch enemy dodges. Death from Above is a good disengage while having a ranged attack, but long recovery. I didn’t mention it in High Stance, but you get access to Demon’s Undercut which deals a lot of ki damage and is your alternate to Spinning Crab outside of Low stance. You have good attack combos (4x Mid Quick Attacks = 3x High Quick, IMO) and access you a lot of skills. Mid Stance: Generally for guarding, but this is your balanced stance for attacking and breaking. Don’t use Eagle’s Shadow in doors, it’ll hit the ceiling and the projectile part will be wasted. On Ryoma Sukuna’s mission, the archers at the top can be hit. You can lock into an enemy archer, run below them and use Eagle’s Shadow to take them out while being safe. Eagle’s Shadow is your vertical ranged attack and a delayed attack. Biting Hail is ok if you remember to use it, as it chips away. Chain Hurl sucks, I personally don’t use it (it’s essentially just a combo attack). It does 3x hits from both your hatchets for low damage in melee, then releases the hatchets to spin around you for another 3 hits at high damage. Deadly Spiral (the one Katsuie uses) is better than Spinning Crab, but longer. You’re open to interruption (without good toughness) the first half of the jump, with the second half being pretty free and clear. Mountain Climber is best as mobility and taking advantage of backstabs. For damage, you have two options: Mountain Climber and later Deadly Spiral. Grab Active Skill Ki Damage, Spinning Crab Ki Damage to help make it better. The only caveat is that it’s power diminishes the smaller the enemy is, as your spins will pass through them and you’ll only get 1-2 hits instead of the full 3. Your combo finisher Spinning Crab is your ki shredder in Low stance. Low Stance: Your mobility stance, but can also be very damaging once you get skills. I don’t really use it too much as I put points into other places. Deals ok damage, can force enemies into a block lock or stagger lock. You can also get Dragonfly which throws the hatchet and causes it to spin in place. Use a quick attack, then follow up with a strong and hold it. The active skills Lethal Barrage is comparable play wise to Windstorm. These are the best at dealing damage and ki damage. High Stance: Piercing Hurl from a distance, then running in and doing a Quick Attack combo. Unlike the kusarigama, hatchets have a little more damage/weight to it instead of combos which makes it do a better job doing hit-and-runs at the cost of having slower combos and shorter range. Overall, the hatchet works by having versatility and zoning, allowing you to attack while out of range. Gonna be a long post, but long time hatchet guy.
